Manchester United broken, wornout and seemingly disoriented!

Granted man Utd are still the only unbeaten team in the premier league this season, however they have conceded far more goals than their bitter rivals Chelsea and scored fewer goals as well, at this stage of the season they lie 5 points adrift of them and 3 adrift of the city rivals.
What kills me is the apparent indifference of the manager at the results, choosing instead to highlight the positives. take for example his comments after the latest result at old trafford, he said, "I suppose there are two ways of looking at it. If we were in the middle of the league we could say we were still undefeated." ,
"It is not a defining result in terms of where the league is going to end up but we cannot keep doing that."
the only time he got low and hard is when he used the term "inexplicable"!
Where is the 'Hair dryer' Sir Alex? Where is the characteristic gusto with which you have swept us away with all these years? Hell some fans are beginning to think you are loosing it and should probably throw in the towel!

This apparent indifference and lethargy seems to be trickling down to the players themselves as they seem a little too less interested and un-bothered by their very own performances! Berbatov, Uniteds's top marksman so far this season seems to have quietly settled back to his 'old self' after lighting up the theater of dreams earlier in the season, blowing chance after chance, only for the team to pay heavily for it with the generosity at the back that has sorely characterized the season this far!
Evra no longer makes those trademark runs upfront that had made him a nightmare for teams so very often in the past, he seem to be suffering due to lack of any competition.
Rooney's performance has suffered greatly because of the injury, the dismal world cup outing and more recently his well documented off field troubles that I need not get into. The very recent talk of leaving the club after a purported spat with the gaffer has not helped either!
The midfield however is where the trouble really seems to be oozing from; Scholes who raised our hearts so high with magic at the start has fallen off the pace probably because he has been tired out playing a whole run of games (his age does not help either). You can tell from the constant change in formation and midfield pairings that the gaffer is himself not content at the output he is getting from the lads!

The team seems to lack that uumph and could really use a bit of inspiration to spur them onto the next level as they are fast dropping out of the fight!
Ferdinand's return did give a massive boost as a lot of nerves were settled at the back.
Owen Hagreave's much anticipated return may do some good to the cause! Other wise like Patrice Evra said after that performance, "We need to start killing games off," a passionate Evra told MUTV. "We need to take our chances and score more goals when we can. It's not like we don't have a lot of opportunities.

"When you are 2-0 up you should go on to win the game. If you make it three or four nil that makes it very difficult for other teams to come back. But when you keep things at the same tempo and it's still only 2-0, the opposition only need to score one goal to make things difficult for you. Everyone must take their share of the blame, not just the defence.

"For it to happen once is okay, but twice... I remember talking about the same thing after we played Liverpool saying I hope we don't give away a lead again like we did that day, but we did it again today.

"We have two choices - either we accept it or we don't accept it and I think it's the moment to not accept it," he added. "We're still unbeaten, but, to me, five draws almost feels like we have lost games. It's not Manchester United. We need to work hard and show our character and I'm confident we can do that."
