Why Ugandans will keep their panties yellow!

NRM will rule

Elections are just round the corner and naturally that means we get to speak and talk about it more than we usually do!( does that make sense?) Posters have been raised and the media is awash with daily updates on who said what or did what for that matter!

Now the current government could be the most criticized in the East African region for reasons I'd rather not get into and mainly because everybody does have a right to opinion and I am certain what influences those opinions cannot be exhausted! That said, here is why I think Ugandans(or rather the majority of them) are not willing or shall we say 'ready' to give up their yellow panties!

Yoweri Museveni

First off the patterns of voting are influenced by three main principles; allegiance, performance and promise!
Honestly speaking very few parties in Uganda can be chosen basing on those three aspects, which is why some of the contenders are often regarded as 'jokers' unworthy of even the slightest political commentary!

With 47.9% of Ugandans placed between the age of 15 and 64, you can say that a huge bunch of those capable of voting have spent practically half if not their entire lives under this government. This means they are denied the right to decide basing on past performances, they can only look at the present.

Over the last 20 years this government's political appeal has gradually risen mainly because of the economic growth, social stability and the crown jewel, Peace.
That also takes away allegiance as a bargaining chip for the opposition!

"Angry and Uncompromising", those were the words used to describe the most credible challenger to the crown that the government faces in next years elections (Dr Kizza Besigye) just after the presidential nominations at Namboole satadium, kampala .
Kizza Besigye
While one may argue that we are not to vote basing on appearances of the candidate, I would like to argue that a more charismatic, good looking character would be most likely to win if faced with a rival that spits fire and dose not look that good either regardless of the content of promise!
