We Hope!



Hope is said to be the last good thing that anyone could loose, the last strand that a drowning man will hold onto!
Well today,on the first day of the the first month of 2011, across many homes in Africa, through many families, celebrations and fetes are on cue! Blood is being spattered, feathers ruffled and plucked as chicken, goats and cattle are sacrificed at the dawn of a new day, at the birth of a new year!

For just one day, we shall blind ourselves to our troubles,to our have nots, to our needs, to our difficulties, to the scorching sun and perilous dust beneath our feet! For just one day we shall steady our feet, look up to the stars and hope! We shall open up our mouths, and shout out praises and thanks to the Lord our God in whom we owe everything.
For just today we shall mask our minds and bodies and hope for a better tommmorrow, for a better year, a more fruitful year, filled with promise, filled with energy, blessings and breakthrough's!

We shall celebrate because today we have been handed yet another clean slate, an unstained cloth on which we have the power to fill with colour and paintings that matter most to us, guided by the tunes of our own hearts, our very own hearts!

So I wish you all my darlings, a happy new year, a glorious new year, a year in which we shall not only feel but taste our dreams! Cheers!

About Religious fundamentalism!

Wikipedia refers to fundamentalism as a belief in a strict adherence to an established set of basic principles (often religious in nature), sometimes as a reaction to perceived doctrinal compromises with modern social and political life. I on the other hand perceive it as a reluctance or better still the complete refusal to engage or in a mind set that is contradictory to your own. It is the extreme form of radicalism to me! Confessions of a non+alcoholic!

Some time last year I decided after what was fast becoming a pretty obvious pattern of life, that I needed to try something new, something different, I needed an experiment of some sort, only this time i was the guinea pig. So after a few moments of thought, well a little bit less than that I came to my decision, never mind the stark nudity in the social consequences involved.
